How should I be prepared for Nepal trekking?
Have you done many treks in Nepal? Do you know that trekking in Nepal is not technical? Do almost the Himalayan passes and trails need ropes, ice axes, or crampons? Mostly people do afraid by these question that similar thing all region is there will be big ups and downs, which enough to sore legs. Treks in Nepal are placed to give a lot of time for rest and acclimatization due to the higher zone, so don’t fret. Though physically won’t be easy, for good hikers fair very well on Nepal’s trails. If you picking right thing according to trekking trial then it will be easier. The biggest mistake I have noticed to people is they used to take too much hiking equipment without knowing properly. Then how you can escape with this hurdles; study well about Nepal geographical condition and take a lots references from trekking company. Choose to trek with a guide, make sure that they are fluent in English because they’ll be the point person for your holiday. Guide do manage transportation, lodging, food, hiking schedule, routes, and your safety on the trail. A good guide will be a good source of information on local culture, customs, festivals, norms and value and also extremely useful resource on your holiday.
Porters are very useful and very common do trekkers hire. Porters usually the do job of carrying heavy gear, so you don’t need. It might be very beneficial for older trekkers, novice trekkers, or groups with children. They even help you to pick rights necessary thing on right time early trek and during the day. If you planning to explore yourself than be wise while choosing your equipment.
It always hurries up for everyone packing the bags. You need to bring 50 to 80 LTR. Size backpack for our equipment’s though if you are traveling without Sherpa. Along with warm clothes and hats, you will also need other equipment for the sufficient protection of your body. Here is the list of necessary items that you need to pack before commencing your trekking in Nepal.
Head- Hat (with a wide brim), Sunglasses (with UV protection). Sunscreen lotion and Lip balm. Upper body- T-shirts (2), light and expedition weight thermal tops, Fleece jacket and pullover. Fleece wind-stopper jacket (Optional), waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell jacket, down vest/jacket (included) Hands – Lightweight gloves, heavy-weight gloves/mittens with a waterproof outer shell. Lower body clothes – Underwear, hiking shorts, lightweight cotton long pants, light and expedition weight thermal bottoms, Fleece or wool pants, waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell pants. Feet – Thin, light-wear inner socks 3, thick, warm wool hiking socks 3, hiking boots with spare laces, camp shoes (sneakers and/or sandals), gaiters (only for winter)
Accessories – Sleeping bag rated to zero degrees F (included), headlamp with spare bulb and batteries, small padlock or combination lock, basic first aid kit, large plastic bags (for keeping items dry inside trek bag), day pack, water bottles2, hiking pole/walking sticks, small ear plugs.
Toiletries – Soap, shampoo, toothbrush, small wash towel, Tissue paper
Extras – Cameras with extra batteries and cards, binoculars, light balaclava or warm fleece hat, reading books, trip map/guide book (for solo hikers), journal & pen, iPod & travel games (like cards, chess, and backgammon).
A good pair of boots with ankle support, a rain coat, several pairs of socks, underwear, and breathable shirts. We do recommend you to bring Marino Wool. 2 pairs of hiking pants, a good fleece, beany, gloves. Don’t forget to pick up snacks and anything that you need but you may find in tea houses but could be expensive. The gear is cheap you possible to hire almost.
